This came from Terrie today. Please note many burglaries happen in homes with unlocked doors and windows. And she also reminds us that observant neighbors who call 9-1-1 are a great help. Please note her recommendations for crime prevention in the home: “Please be aware that yesterday and today, in the early morning hours, 3 occupied burglaries occurred – 2 in Maple Leaf neighborhood and 1 near Greenlake. It appears that the victims in all cases [...] Sometimes on a walk to the library I’ve noticed unusual activity at a house near NE 127th St & 25th Ave NE. For instance, one morning a guy holding a beer was in the empty street yelling. I learned recently it’s a known drug house. Here is an email we got from Terrie Johnston, Crime Prevention Coordinator on February 1: Position: Mayor McGinn and the Seattle City Council decided last November to maintain the 3 remaining Crime Prevention Coordinators for another year. This means I will continue serving the North Precinct’s neighborhoods with establishing and maintenance of Block Watches; conducting [...] There will be a planning meeting for the newly named Beaver Pond Natural Area at the Northgate Community Center on Wednesday, January 11th, at 7PM. Early on December 28th, a man and a woman were apprehended in the act of stealing mail in north Pinehurst. See the story here.
