Hello Jackson Park Trail Steering Committee and Friends:

New leaders at the helm of Jackson Park Trail design project

Katheryn and Kate

I am excited to announce that two energetic, engaged and generous community members have stepped up to take the lead on Jackson Park Trail.

Jackson Park Trail (drum roll, please!)

Things are moving forward on the Jackson Park Trail design project:

1. We are ready to contract with the City of Seattle on the grant that we were awarded. The grant (along with matching donations and your volunteer time) will pay to hire a design consultant to hold community outreach sessions and develop a design [...]

Good news for Jackson Park Trail!

Friends of Jackson Park Trail received notice today that we were awarded a $15,000 Small and Simple Neighborhood Matching Fund grant to design the trail! This was an extremely competitive grant round. Only half of the projects that applied were funded. Thank you to everyone who pledged and donated to the project! More details to [...]

$11,000 for Jackson Park Trail

We are there! Thank you everyone! We have the matching pledges that we need to apply for our grant to design the Jackson Park Trail. We have $11,000 in cash and volunteer hour pledges. And, we already have $2,000 in cash!

I will update everyone once the grant application is formally submitted in February.

Update on Jackson Park Trail – We need your pledge!

Easier way to pledge for Jackson Park Trail

Update to my earlier post regarding the Jackson Park Trail grant application.

I spoke with Allynn Ruth at the Department of Neighborhoods and learned that under some recent changes neighbors can pledge via e-mail instead of by the pledge form I had sent earlier. This is a big help because we still need $5,000 in [...]

Help make Jackson Park Trail a reality

We are working on a grant application (due January 12th) that would pay for a professional consultant (likely a landscape design firm) to work with our community to develop a more comprehensive design for Jackson Park Trail. The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Matching Fund program is very generous and would pay much of the cost [...]

Jackson Park Trail

I finally learned how to convert .pdf files to .jpg. Here is the likely Jackson Park Trail route. Also, I have spoken with Tim Gallagher, Director of Seattle Parks and Recreation, since this last post. And, Tim is optimistic that a full perimeter trail can be built and that it will have a modest (under [...]
