Friends of Jackson Park Trail received notice today that we were awarded a $15,000 Small and Simple Neighborhood Matching Fund grant to design the trail! Thank you everyone! We have the matching pledges that we need to apply for our grant to design the Jackson Park Trail. We have $11,000 in cash and volunteer hour pledges. And, we already have $2,000 in cash! I will update everyone once the grant application is formally submitted in February. [...] Unfortunately, we got close to, but did not get all of the formal volunteer pledge forms that we need to apply for our grant. We raised $2,000 in cash and have $3,000 in formal pledges. I spoke with Allynn Ruth at the Department of Neighborhoods and learned that under some recent changes neighbors can pledge via e-mail instead of by the pledge form I had sent earlier. This is a big help because we still need $5,000 in [...] We are working on a grant application (due January 12th) that would pay for a professional consultant (likely a landscape design firm) to work with our community to develop a more comprehensive design for Jackson Park Trail.
