This month’s guest speaker at the North Precinct Advisory Council was a supervisor from the 9-1-1 Call Center. Last October there were 18 burglaries. This October there were 55. Don’t take short cuts through alleyways, back yards or parks. Whose homes will you visit? Advise your parents of your plans. Is there an adult going along? If not, tell parents [...] At tonight’s North Precinct Advisory Council, a representative from the City Attorney’s Office told us what one apprehended residential burglar told officials about his methods: he said he didn’t pay any attention to alarm system signs because he knows he can get in and out of a home before anyone responds to the alarm. He [...] At September’s North Precinct Advisory Council our Crime Prevention Coordinator, Terri Johnston, reminded us of these tips: 1) Stop your mail and newspapers when you are out-of-town so they don’t collect on your porch and mailbox. 2) A burning front porch light at 2:00 in the afternoon on an 80 degree day is a clue that [...] The Seattle Police Department North Precinct’s annual picnic is approaching. Put it on your calendar! It’s fun; I went last year and had a good time. There was free food, music and dance on stage, tours of the precinct station, community tables, and I got to meet the bomb squad and their robots, swat team, the [...] Save the date! The North Precinct Police picnic is Saturday, July 9th, 1-4pm. It’s fun! There’s free food, free music and dance exhibitions, community booths, door prizes, and tours of the precinct building. Plus, if they aren’t on a call, the bomb squad, mounted patrol unit, K9 unit and SWAT are there to demonstrate what they do.
