At our PInehurst Community Meeting on Monday, Cindy Riskin spoke about a bicycle club that she organizes for non-competitive riders. A number of people were interested in the club, so Cindy forwarded this information for anyone who is interetsed in joining.
My bicycle club is Seattle Easy Riders Bicycle Club.
You can learn more at: http://seattleeasyriders.net/
You can also e-mail Cindy at: firstname.lastname@example.org
I have an e-mail list of >150 riders and will be starting rides again in a couple of months at the latest.
We run rides between 2.4 and 30 miles long and try to minimize hill climbing, except for a beginning hill climbing class that I’ll offer again late spring and summer.
Our motto: Get Back in the Saddle. It’s for people who are returning to bicycling or for any reason want a kinder, gentler ride. We are not competitive and don’t drop people unless absolutely necessary, like they just can’t go on (but this has never happened).
I’m trying to get a booth at the Bike Expo, Mar. 14-15, in Magnuson Park.
I’m also setting up events with Metro Transit where people can learn about putting their bicycles on the bus (all Metro buses have bike racks) and try it for themselves.
