Really, this is not Appalachia and you are supposed to leave space for a sidewalk

These folks on 125th don’t seem to understand that they are parking on the public right of way in an area that is legally reserved for pedestrians and not for cars. You can’t parallel park two cars deep. If you encounter this, you can phone parking enforcement at 206-625-5011.

Actually, legally, this i OK. One of the cars is on the line of the curb and one is inside it on the "sidewalk". Now, if two were outside the curb, they would be parking in the right of way and that would be illegal.

    John –

I spoke with SDOT and Parking Enforcement (and sent photos) and confirmed that it is actually illegal to double parallel park in that location. They are blocking the section that pedestrians use and will be ticketed.

The good news is that in the long term, there are efforts to find more funding to complete the sidewalk on 125th which would make it even clearer than it is now.
