Citizen Science Opportunity with UW Student and National Wildlife Federation

Calling all folks with yards certified as wildlife habitats. Hillary Burgess is a graduate student in urban ecology and environmental horticulture at UW. She’s looking for volunteers to collect data on pollinator presence in their certified habitats this summer.  The protocol will be very straightforward, not greatly time consuming, and would involve making regular timed observations of bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other pollinating fauna.  Identification skills are not necessary, only an interest in observing pollinating fauna in your yard and a willingness to let her visit your certified habitat to record information about the plant species present.  If this sounds interesting to you, please contact Hillary Burgess directly at hkb10@uw.edu.  She’s hoping to meet with potential volunteers in the next few weeks.
