Pinehurst Pets – Injured or Dead Animals

petsWildlife

Dead and injured wildlife can be picked up by Seattle Animal Control by calling 206-386-7387. If it is under 15 pounds, it may be double bagged and put in your garbage can. For information about our common wild animals, see this page on the Seattle Animal Shelter website.

You can also take injured wildlife to PAWS in Lynnwood. If you found a wild animal you think may be injured or sick, call PAWS Wildlife Center at 425-412-4040. A trained staff member will help you determine if the animal needs help and guide you through what to do next.

Pets

If you find a dead or  injured pet and you don’t know who its owner is,  Seattle Animal Control will pick it up (206-386-7387). If you choose to take an injured stray pet to a veterinarian, be prepared to be responsible for treatment costs. Discuss costs before allowing treatment. Sometimes veterinarians have funds for injured animals brought in by good Samaritans. Use caution when approaching an animal. Should you succeed in getting close enough to capture it, you stand a good chance of being scratched or bitten! More information on handling stray pets will be a future topic.

Another resource for injured or entangled wildlife is Sarvey Wildlife Center. Their address is Arlington, but they’re closer to Granite Falls. If you cannot take them to the center, there are five vet offices who will accept injured wildlife, and the Sarvey ambulance makes the rounds to pick them up.

360-435-4817 will connect you with the clinic.
