Laurie and Jim have lived in the Pinehurst neighborhood since 1985. They have had Portuguese Water Dogs since 1990.
The photo is of their oldest dog, “Kitty”, on the occasion of her 14th Birthday last April 1st, and her granddaughter, Billie, giving her a kiss for the occasion.
Portuguese Water Dogs were bred in Portugal (no surprise there) where they were taught to herd fish into fishermen’s nets, to retrieve lost tackle or broken nets, and to act as couriers from ship to ship, or ship to shore. They’re also known for their non-shedding and hypoallergenic qualities.
