North Precinct Advisory Council Minutes for March 2016

SPDbadgeThis month’s guest speaker was Fire Chief Harold Scoggins of the Seattle Fire Department. SFD took 92,000 calls in 2014. It’s number one challenge is the rising call load, mostly due to emergency medical needs. Another challenge is the fast growth of building and development currently occurring, which creates a bigger inspection load for fire fighters, and the backlog slows down developers.

The investigation of the officer-involved shooting in the 2200 block of NE 85th continues. The man who was killed did have a gun in a holster on his hip. When he reached for the gun, officers shot him.

Crimes against persons are trending slightly lower year-to-date, but we continue to have higher property crime rates. Chief O-Toole has asked that a property crimes task force be created for 30-60 days. It has had some significant successes already.
