Classical Concert in Haller Lake!

bach

Some of you may be aware that Haller Lake, our neighbor to the north, has an intimate, casual classical music venue at Haller Lake United Methodist Church (13055 1st Ave. NE., Seattle). For about 25 years the church has hosted the Haller Lake Music Series, which offers mostly monthly freewill-donation concerts. The performers tend to be local musicians whom you can meet and chat with after the concert. I’ve enjoyed a number of concerts there over the years. I love having a very local music venue! Here’s its website: https://hallerlakemusic.com/

A special fundraiser concert is planned there on Saturday, January 21, from 7 pm to 9 pm., with all proceeds benefiting the Bach in the Subways international movement. What’s that? Bach in the Subways’s goal is to bring as much Bach, and classical music in general, for free, to as many people as possible, especially to those who otherwise wouldn’t hear live classical music. And where do you find a lot of people in Seattle? In public spaces like Light Rail stations, ferry terminals; malls; libraries – you get the picture. Funds raised at this benefit will support dozens of musicians throughout Greater Seattle as they offer free performances, without pay, of Bach’s music in public places March 18-21 in celebration of Bach’s birthday. Anyway, tickets for the benefit concert in Haller Lake on January 21 are available through Brown Paper Tickets (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2724778) and will also be sold at the door 30 minutes before the concert. I hope to see you there!
