Community Council Meeting Topics?

community-meetingPinehurst Community Council meets four times a year. Well, in the summer we host Pinehurstfest instead of having a meeting, so actually it’s really three times a year. Usually the meetings are in the Pinehurst Playground shelter house in early evening on a weekday.

What would you like future discussions/topics to be? We have had some interesting guest speakers in the past from SDOT, SPD, Dept of Neighborhoods and more. Is there anyone you’d like to hear from? Or is there something you’d like the community to discuss among ourselves? What are your issues in our neighborhood that could be addressed at a community council meeting?

Do you have any meeting format suggestions? What would encourage you to come to these meetings? We want to hear from you!

Leave comments on this post, or, if you wish, email us at info@pinehurstseattle.org.

Thanks!

I would like to discuss more what we support together in order to improve the community. We talked about the Northgate ped/bike bridge in the last meeting. That was a great topic. How about ped/bike safety including sidewalks, bike lanes etc, homeless issues including parking, and so on? We often mention those things in the Facebook page, but they usually fade away after a while. It would be great to formally discuss those issues in the council meetings, hopefully coming to an agreement as a community.

I’d like to support Diagoro’s comment above, particularly regarding sidewalks and crosswalks. With the new school opening soon, I’m concerned about the lack of crosswalks to go from one side of 15th and Pinehurst to the other. I think this will also become a big issue when the 73 bus schedule changes and the bus no longer will go to Downtown Seattle.

We will have at least four children on NE 115th St eligible to walk to the new Hazel Wolf K-8 School starting in September and there are no, none, and zero sidewalks along most of that route. Unless the city seriously wants extra traffic on the roads, especially that six way death trap of an intersection on Pinehurst Way directly south of the new school, we need sidewalks in that area. If the city wants to spend huge amounts of money reducing the drivability of our roads to force people to use the bus system, then how about making the routes that people have to walk to and from the very few bus stops in the neighborhood a bit safer?
