Join us for a walking tour of Pinehurst with the Deputy Mayor! Monday, April 26th from 4:00 – 5:00pm (This Monday!) Starting downstairs at the Holy Trinity Eritrean Church, across the street from the Safeway site. They are still waiting on the permits so there is not yet a final timeline for the demolition and new construction. But they’re getting ready with the temporary pharmacy which will be available during construction (as discussed here) [...] Safeway has confirmed that the new Pinehurst Safeway will be LEED silver certified. While neighbors have asked for LEED certification since our initial discussions with Safeway, Safeway previously could only commit to the store being LEED silver certifiable. Certification costs significantly more than simply building the store to LEED standards. [...] Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2010 with completion around Thanksgiving 2010. Pinehurst Safeway discussion at this morning’s Seattle City Council Planning Land Use and Neighborhoods (PLUNC) meeting. The Property Use and Development Agreement (PUDA) is still being drafted, but PLUNC just voted to recommend the rezone for a full Council vote in October. Vote may occur at the October 12th City Council meeting.
